Our Schools Team had the privilege of being involved in Aldrington Primary School’s ‘Faith in Art’ week recently.

The school set a whole week aside to think about the theme ‘Here for Others’, and express their thoughts and feelings in lots of different ways. We set up a Prayer Space that ran for 3 days and saw the whole school visit!

The sun shone for the whole week which allowed us to start each session outside on the grassy bank before welcoming them into the transformed classroom. Students loved the chance to stop, think and pray in lots of different ways.

At this Prayer Space we tried out 2 new prayer zones which worked really well. One was called 'Worry Sand' and gave students space to think about things that worried them and write them in a tray of sand. As they wiped their worries away they reflected on how it felt to share their worries with others and God.

The other new zone was called 'Building for a Better World'. Students thought about a country that they have a connection with and on a piece of paper drew that country's flag and wrote a prayer. This paper was then stuck to the side of a giant Jenga brick and built into our Jenga wall!

It was a great week to be involved with and fantastic to see the students enjoying all aspects of the 'Faith in Art' week, including collecting toiletries for Antifreeze and Gateway. Big thanks to all at Aldrington School for such a warm welcome and generous donations!
