It’s been a privilege to be invited back to Cardinal Newman School to help run their summer Enrichment Week.

The theme of the week is ‘Finding God in Everything’ – from Maths, to IT to abseiling down the side of the school building!

We’ve been running 2 workshops which fit into this theme. One called Breathe, a reflective space helping students explore the following topics: self, individuality and identity, other people, interdependence and global community, creation, environmental issues, God and prayer. Using an iPod, students follow 12 short tracks with corresponding activities to guide their thinking.

In contrast, our second workshop invited students to act out the parable of The Good Samaritan. They chose one of 3 styles; a comedy, a news report or telling the story in a school setting. The students have approached this challenge with creativity and fun taking time to plan and rehearse and then perform their drama at the end of the session.

Students commented:
“Can we do this more often?”
“I liked the activities because it helped me accept other people.”
“I liked thinking about forgiveness because it releases everything.”

Thanks to Cardinal Newman school for inviting us to be part of this special week!
