We were delighted to have had John Harding step up to the challenge of running the London Marathon this year in support of Off The Fence!

It’s a great feat in itself to complete the London Marathon at all, but John managed to cross the finish line in an extraordinary time of 3 hours and 17 minutes - and just two weeks after completing the Brighton Marathon! We are amazed by how fast he completed the challenge and in the process, able to raise an incredible £840.97 for our work. Here is what he had to say about his experience of completing this challenge…

Why did you want to run the London Marathon for Off The Fence? "Quite a long time ago, I was only doing a bit of running. One day I was talking to Paul Young and before I knew it, he had signed me up to run The Brighton Half Marathon for Off The Fence! Fast forward to 2017 and I find myself with an entry for The London Marathon, so it seemed like a good idea to run again for Off The Fence and raise some money for their work – I have always been impressed with what they do and the way it has adapted over the years to support those most in need in our own local area."

Was there anything in particular you enjoyed about taking part in the London Marathon?
"I have run the Brighton Marathon which is a big event, but the London Marathon is on a different level again with almost 40,000 runners this year. So a great experience, to take part in such a big event and run by some of the iconic London landmarks like Cutty Sark and Tower Bridge."

What would you say to others considering doing a challenge for us?
"I’d say go for it. You will challenge yourself, have some fun and raise some money for a great local cause."

Congratulations John for your accomplishment. And congratulations to all who competed in the London Marathon 2017 this year!
