How has your time in Off The Fence been so far?

Great, busy, learning as much as possible as well as meeting everyone and getting to know the work.

Tell us a bit about your job as Finance Manager and how you came to be here?

I’m responsible for administration of the charity’s income and expenses and for providing Paul, the managers and trustees with financial information to aid decision-making.  I’ve worked with EDF Energy at the other end of Portland Road for the last 18 years, starting in Credit Control then moving into various teams within a very large finance department and qualifying as an Accountant.  The opportunity to join Off the Fence arose at exactly the right time (in God’s timing) after waiting for more than a year for redundancy to be confirmed.

What in particular excites you about working at Off The Fence?

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved with one of the “Restore” ministries supported by my church (Holland Road Baptist Church), working directly with teams bringing practical support in God’s name to poor and vulnerable people.

What is your favourite thing about working and living in/near Brighton?

There is always a lot going on in the area, my church is here and it’s good not to have a long commute to London as in the past.

What would you say to someone who wanted to volunteer for Off The Fence?

If you feel God is prompting you to volunteer to take part in this valuable work, go for it!
