Antifreeze Temporary Winter Support Worker

Salary: £23,400 pro rata, per annum

Hours of work: 22.5 hours per week (including 1 evening outreach shift per fortnight)

Holiday Entitlement: 5 weeks pro rata

Location: you will normally be required to work from Antifreeze, 37 Portland Road, Hove BN3 5DQ and in wider Brighton and Hove on nightshift

Job Title: Antifreeze Winter Support Worker

Reporting relationship:  Antifreeze Manager

Job Summary: This is a temporary role to work as part of the Antifreeze team in identifying and providing individually tailored, life-saving support for individuals experiencing homelessness. Will need to be an active Christian who can lead a Bible study, prayer meeting and able to pray with clients when required.

 

Main duties:

• Offering practical, emotional and Christian support to clients

• Listening to and assessing client’s individual needs

• To assist clients with benefit claims and related enquiries

• Assist with all drop-ins, workshops and outreach work with clients

• Assist with managing donations and collections over the winter period

• Assist with referring clients to external agencies

• Assist with and take turns to lead weekly Christian Bible study and prayer meetings

• Where possible, make the most of one-to-one opportunities to share your faith and the Bible and pray when appropriate

• To take an active role in staff meetings and offer new ideas for expanding the ongoing activities of the Antifreeze centre

• Assist with cleaning and tidying the centre after drop-in and workshops

• Promoting the independence and self-worth of the clients

Essential:

• To formally agree with the Christian ethos and statement of faith (Evangelical Alliance version) that has been adopted by Off The Fence

• Ability to show the love of God to people

• Have a strong calling to make a difference to the homeless of Brighton and Hove

• Ability to work in a team and independently
