The Big Sleep Out 2024
Sleep out for one night.
Change lives for ever.
Last November we took a deep breath and put together the most ambitious Sleep-out in our history.
Community participants, including supporter companies, university students, the Mayor, pensioners, teenagers, churches and clubs combined forces to raise over £18,000 in just one night.
We are going to do our best to beat that total this year – with your help.
The Need
The number of individuals forced onto the streets of Brighton & Hove has skyrocketed by a staggering 155% in recent years, with an average of 16 new people becoming homeless each month. This increase has created a huge surge in demand for support services.
What can you do about it?
Join us at Off The Fence’s annual sleep-out on the South Side of St Peter’s Church on Friday, November 8th from 5 pm and sleep out for one night in central Brighton to help raise money to address the homelessness crisis in our city.
The evening challenge includes a warm picnic dinner, live music, a shelter-building competition, testimonials from our homeless community and everything needed to ensure a fun, safe, and memorable experience.
It costs £20 to take part in the Big Sleep Out which includes your picnic dinner, hot drinks all night and some cardboard boxes for your shelter. By signing up to our JustGiving page and asking your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you, we will be able to realise our target of £40,000. We have a limit of 200 places for the sleep out. If every participant can raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship we’ll be half way to our target of £20,000.
We need your help to prepare for the heightened need for homelessness support over the winter months, join us on the 8th of November to see transformation in our city.

Any participants under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a legal guardian / appropriate adult who will be asked to take full responsibility for them during the event.
